Merrill Lee Rush was born in Tulare, California on May 23, 1915 and ascended to the Supreme Grand Lodge above on May 15, 2005. He lived in Burbank since the 1940’s and retired from Lockheed Aircraft Company as an engineer about 20 years ago. He was Initiated February 19, 1945; Passed November 5, 1945 and Raised January 10, 1946, in Burbank Lodge No. 406. A 59 Year Masonic Veteran, Merrill received his 50 Year Golden Veterans Award in 1996 and the prestigious Hiram Award in 1998. Brother Merrill served on many Lodge committees over the years, especially Youth Orders and the Building Association. He was a long time Candidate Coach. A member of Al Malaikah Shrine Temple and Burbank Shrine Club, where he was President in 1974, Secretary 1976 to 1995, and Secretary Emeritus since 1995. A member of the Pasadena Scottish Rite; and in the York Rite he was in the San Gabriel Valley Commandery No. 31, Knights Templars; Omega Council No. 11, Cryptic Masons; Van Nuys Royal Arch Chapter No. 135. He was also a member of the Burbank Eastern Star Chapter No. 352, where he was a Past Patron. He served several years as Chapter Dad for the Burbank DeMolay. Brother Rush was active and hard working in all of the many organizations of which he was a member.
