Brethren
From the Pillar of wisdom in the East, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your Brotherly Love and support. This being my first article as Master, I look forward to sharing my thoughts and words over the next few months.
Those of you who attended the Annual Installation of Officers on January 20 will agree with me that it was an exceptional evening. I would like to thank Judy Barnes and Laurie Canterbury for a job well done. The buffet dinner was a success. Also, thanks to Ken Barnes for his music, Marilyn Holbert and Dolores Libby for their help with the corsages, to Worshipful Ron Robertson and his wife Janet for their help at the reception desk, my
daughter Doreen for her help with the guest book and Nairee Hopelian, Honored Queen of Bethel 97, and Valaria Foster, Junior Princess of Bethel 97 for their help with the programs,
This month we will honor our widows and sweethearts with a dinner on February 15. It Is important to recognize the wives of our departed Brethren and also the Ladies in our lives.
I look to you and what you can do for Burbank Lodge, not what Burbank Lodge can do for you. Call a friend and family member and bring them to events at Lodge. Perhaps this will enlighten them enough to ask about Masonry and what it is about.
Just remember we cannot succeed without helping one another.
Fraternally, Bill

I want to greet you from the Senior Warden's column. This will be my way of communicating with all of you for the next year. I want to tell you that I am happy that you have chosen me to serve as Senior Warden for the upcoming year for two reasons. First, I assume this position will require serious consideration of the future well being of the Lodge - the need for new membership. Second, you will not have to put up with my cooking.
Despite all the help, I think my skills are better suited for my current position.
The long holiday break gave me a chance to ponder the responsibilities that come with my new position. I must represent the strength of our Lodge. Our strength is in our teachings and our membership.
A good idea effectively communicated offers a winning combination. Freemasonry offers many enduring teachings. What we need is an effective channel for communication. If we can show the strength in our community, the message will attract those men of character that have reinforced our ranks for many centuries.
How do we improve our in communication? We must look at the programs that we sponsor and at our community involvement. My goal will be to work with our Worshipful Master Bill Cunningham to create the necessary programs like school night, Constitution night, etc., we will offer programs like Child ID Program, programs involving our less involved members, etc.
We have been an important part of Burbank history. During the last few years our strength has dwindled. With your involvement and ideas, please help me and the Lodge to gain the strength back.
Fraternally, Edward

The highlight for the month of February will be our Ladies. Sweethearts' Night is the 15th and will begin with at 6:00 pm with a 6:30 pm dinner. As usual, please call in your reservations (818 848-3750) or CLICK HERE to e-mail your reservation to the Secretary as soon as possible. Although as of this writing it is not official, dinner will probably consist of a chicken dish.
If you are a regular at Lodge, then you know our Junior Deacon, Brother Tim Halm. You may even know that he is the proud father of little Megan Halm, a beautiful six-month old girl. A few of us had the opportunity last month to be present at her baptism. It was a wonderful day complete with lunch at the Halm household in Ventura. Thanks Tim and congratulations to you, Proud Mom Jamie, and little Megan.
I need everyone's help this year! As Junior Warden, I am of course responsible for refreshments. This is a new challenge to which I am looking forward. I am going to be preparing meals as working with a caterer this year. As such, RESERVATIONS will be a must! I will be buying and ordering for the amount of people we expect to be there. I would hate to not have enough goodies to go around.
On behalf of all the newly installed 2001 officers, and myself - thank you for your trust and support. Having spoken with our new Master and having heard some of his ideas and plans, we are all sure to have a fun 2001.
Fraternally, Gregg
