Trestleboard Messages for June, 2001

From the East

Brethren:
Well it’s time to move. This is the moment we have been waiting for. After approximately four years in the making, reality has finally come to happen. Thanks to our Past Masters, Worshipfuls Chris Barnes, Marlan Proctor, Jr. and Andrew De Caro. Without their help and tenacity this project would not have come to fruition. After reading about the history of our lodge and the date we received our dispensation in 1909. We now begin our 93rd year in a new Masinic Center. This is perhaps the most fitting time to move.
Our newly constructed Lodge room was added on to a preexisting building that was refurbished and will house our offices, storage, dinning room, kitchen and lounges. Worshipful Ron Cooper designed a beautiful square and compass emblazoned on the floor at each entry to the building, he also painted the dome in our lodge room to look like the heavens above. These fine works of art are a must see. Thanks also to Worshipful Scott Nave for his help together with Ron Cooper in selecting the fine furnishings for our lounges.
Worshipful Jake Libby and Brother Greg Bragg deserve praise for their help with our sound system. The system we now have is state-of-the-art. Worshipful Marlan Proctor, Jr. I thank you from the depths of our Lodge for the piano you most graciously donated and your expertise in helping us achieve the goals for our new lodge. Worshipful Andy De Caro, thank you for giving me a much easier job to step into this year. If it wasn’t for your help with the layout and plans for the new Lodge this may not have come about. Worshipful Dick Carter, you are the “man”. Thank you. Richard is always available for any need no matter how small or large, he is there for us.

History continued:
Brother Harry Larson (P.M. 1929) Had the pleasure of delivering the lecture of the 3rd degree 360 times.
Brother Larry O. Trimm (P.M. 1954) Had the unpleasant duty of officiating at 360 masonic funerals.
Burbank Lodge #406 F&AM on September 20, 1973 held its Mortgage Burning Ceremony. Grand Master William H. Price, presided. Worshipful Farrell E. Bailey, Master. Donald W. Maltby, P.M. Inspector for the 520th Masonic District. $8.00 per person.
At a Stated Meeting held March 1, 1923, a resolution was presented to increase initiation fees from $50.00 To $80.00. This resolution was referred back to committee for redrafting. After redrafting and properly presented to the Lodge it was adopted to become effective as of March 6, 1924.
At the sstated meeting held June 5, 1924, it was voted to have the Secretary issue monthly bulletins on the activities of the lodge.
On January 22, 1931, Right Worshipful Brother John Stewart Ross, assisted by a number of his officers, in dedicating our new Temple in Due and Ancient Form, which is our present and soon to be our previous lodge.
History to be continued

Please keep July 14th available on your calendar. This is the date for our Cornerstone event.
Grand Master David C. Decker, along with other Grand Lodge Officers will preform the ceremony.
Grand Lodge will open at 3:00 PM, July 14th 2001, this is a must see for all Master Masons. Following Grand Lodge opening, we will have social hour, after which the Cornerstone Ceremony and following a western barbecue.

Fraternally, Bill

From the West

Brethren
As I have been writing in my past articles, the strength of the Lodge is in our membership and our community involvement. These two areas have been my focus as I have planned the events within my responsibility.
The Child ID program in Burbank has started very successfully. During our first event on April 28th and 29th, Burbank Lodge and Magnolia Park Lodge joined forces in identifying 190 children. Burbank Lodge had another successful day during a Fair commemorating Fire Service Day and National Police Week on May 12, 2001. With the help of Brother Bragg, we have identified over 170 children during 6-hour period. This program has been successfully accepted by the community and will be one of our focal programs in the future.
This year’s Constitution Night has been scheduled either on September 20, 2001 or October 18, 2001. The program will have a “town hall” format. We have invited some of our local and state government officials for an evening that will focus on the practical sides of the U.S. Constitution. As plans are finalized, we will have the date and program content advertised in the future trestleboards.
The Catalina trip is approaching rapidly. We will be visiting the island on August 18, 2001. We will spend one day on the island. One-month prior to the departure date, I will have information available for places to eat and activities to do. Please call in with your reservations.

Fraternally, Edward

From the South

Hello Brethren!
June 7th will be the final stated meeting in our Olive Ave. building. Beginning with the July 5th Stated Meeting, we will be meeting in our brand new facility.
A special thank you to Brother Tony Mastrolla for stopping by officer’s practice last month. It was really nice to have him help us out by filling stations. We hope to see more of you all.
I want to thank the Brethren for sending me to the Junior Wardens Retreat last month. It was very interesting, and I picked up a few useful tools.
June is going to be a little bit quiet as we prepare to move to the new facility. Whatever you do, don’t get used to it! We will be back in the swing of things as soon as July rolls around. Remember our Cornerstone event July 14th

Fraternally, Gregg
