Trestleboard Messages for July and August, 2001

From the East

Brethren:

For those of you who attended our last Stated Meeting in the Olive Avenue building, I thank you for your support and fellowship. It was good to see Worshipfulþ Karl Byers, Roger Olson, Kurt Lorenz and George Settlemyer who have been in ill health and unable to join us for the past several Stated Meetings. We (Brethren) wish each of you a speedy recovery and hope to see you in our new Lodge in the near future.
Our new Lodge is absolutely magnificent. The landscaping has been redone with colorful plants, shrubs, trees and sod lawn has been laid to give the appearance of a truly beautiful structure. A topcoat was applied to our parking lot, which was then restripped to give it a new look. 3 spaces have been assigned to handicap, and approximately 73 spaces available for standard parking.
The Cornerstone weighs 2000 lbs., and has been placed in the front of the building for everyone to view. The frontal surface is just the right size to place the plaque of the ceremony of July 14th.
A Square & Compass has been placed on the terrazzo floor at each entrance. There are 2 lounges, 1 with a big screen tv and pool table plus tables, couches and chairs for ones leisure. To obtain some privacy from the dining room there is a partition curtain that can be closed. Lounge 2 is located at the east end of the dining room which also has couches and chairs. This area is primarily used during social events such as entertainment and other functions. Along the east and north walls of the dining room are 7 floor to ceiling windows with neighborhood and mountain views. The kitchen is state of the art, with new appliances, such as stoves, grill, char broiler, deep fryer, 3 door refrigerator freezer and new ice maker. Stainless steel prep area with 4 sinks. Stainless steel storage area is in abundance. Cabinetry with granite countertop provides use for the tableware.
Entering into the Lodge room, you will marvel at the granite floor with the tessellated border surrounded by dark blue carpeting and seating. The dome is the next thing to which your attention is directed, it measures 18 feet in diameter and has the appearance of the heavens above.
There is also an outside patio for everyone to enjoy. The new Masonic Center is worth seeing.
Our first Stated Meeting will be held on Thursday, July 5th at 8pm. Hope to see all of you there.
July 14th is the date of the Cornerstone Ceremony. Grand Master David C. Decker, will open Grand Lodge at 3:00pm, after which there will be a social hour starting at 4pm. The Ceremony will commence at 5pm followed by a Burbank Western Barbecue. Please plan on attending this memorable event.

Fraternally, Bill

From the West

Brethren
We are starting the summer months of the year and soon (as I write this) we will move to our new lodge building. All the hard work culminated into a beautiful meeting place.
In line with the change in our location, we have been introducing new things into our lodge. We are getting more and more active in our community life.
The Child ID program in Burbank is progressing very well. Up to this point we have identified over 350 children. We are in process of purchasing our own equipment. The future events that are coming up are Child ID programs at our local schools, Burbank Fall Fair during October, and Los Angeles St. Patrick's parade in March of 2002.
Constitution Night has been scheduled either on September 20, 2001 or October 18, 2001. The program will have a “Town Hall Meeting” format. We have invited some of our local and state government officials for an evening that will focus on the practical sides of the U.S. Constitution. As plans are finalized, we will have the date and program content advertised in the future trestleboards.
The Catalina trip will be on August 18, 2001. We will spend one day on the island. One-month prior to the departure date, I will have information available for places to eat and activities to do. Please call in with your reservations.
Our new building will offer a fresh look to many of the events scheduled in the Lodge. We are looking for your participation and support. Bring strength to the lodge and to your community.

Fraternally, Edward

From the South

Hello Brethren!

How exciting! July 5th 2001 is right around the corner. The new Burbank Masonic Center is near its completion, and we are ready to move in. We are looking forward to everyone making it out to our first Stated Meeting in our new up to date facility on July 5th. Social hour at 7:00 PM, with the Stated Meeting at 8:00 PM.
You won’t want to miss the first ever degree in our new lodge on July 12th. Join us at 7:30 PM for the degree work, with refreshments following.
The biggest event of the year is right around the corner. On the 14th of July 2001, the Most Worshipful David C. Decker, Grand Master of Masons in California along with his core of officers will perform the cornerstone ceremony for our new lodge. You will not want to miss this special event, complete with a country western BBQ.
On July 27th at 7:00 PM we will be honoring McCormick Construction with a dinner. McCormick has worked hard and long to bring us our new building on time. Come on out, join the celebration, and say thanks.
The month of August brings a slow down, and some well-deserved rest from our recent labors.
August 2nd will be our next stated meeting. As usual, refreshments will kick off the evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
August 18th will be our Catalina Trip. If you plan on joining us, please contact our Senior Warden, Ed Avetisian, as soon as possible.
Looking ahead to September, we will be having Past Masters Night on the 20th complete with a Master Mason Degree.

Fraternally, Gregg
