Trestleboard Messages for September, 2001From the EastWe are now officially moved into our new Center, located at 406 Irving Dr., the phone number has remained the same only the address has changed. The Stated Meeting held on July 5th was the first meeting held in our new Lodge room. The attendance at the meeting was outstanding. It has been sometime since I have witnessed nearly a full house. July 12th, Bros. Mark Canterbury and John Brennan were passed to the Degree of Fellowcraft. This was also a first for our new Lodge. History was made for Burbank Lodge on July 14th. Grand Lodge opened in our new Lodge room for the purpose of conducting the Cornerstone Ceremony. Most Worshipful Grand Master David C. Decker and his Grand Officers opened Grand Lodge and then immediately called to Refreshments and admitted the public into the Lodge room for presentation of the Flag of our Country, introductions and presentations of gifts. The Lodge room was filled beyond capacity. Afterward the Grand Master proceeded to perform the ritual for laying of the Cornerstone. This was the same ritual used by George Washington. The estimated attendance for this Ceremony was approx- imately 550 people. Several dignitaries, from State to Local Officials were in attendance as were many residents of Burbank. Worshipful Ron Cooper, P.M. gave an address for the Ceremony, telling about the history of the Lodge. Brother Marlan ‘Tiny’ Proctor, III made the time capsule for placing of memorabilia from the Ceremony and history of the Lodge along with other items. The time capsule will be sealed at the end of this Masonic year and opened on July 14, 2051. Tiny Proctor was also our official Photographer for the event. Thank you ‘Tiny’ for all your good work. Thanks also to the following Brethren who were instrumental for the Ceremony. Worshipful Chris Barnes, Sr., P.M., Chris had the hardest and most time consuming job of all. He was in charge of not only satisfying our palate, but also responsible for acquiring the barbecues, tent, tables and chairs. Marlan Proctor, Jr., P.M., Chairman, Brother Ken Barnes for his music, Brother Mark Steiger for his unselfish time and help. I would like to thank the Temple Board members for all their work and support. Worshipful Richard Carter, P.M., Temple Board President, Brother Merrill Rush, Secretary, Brother Paul Durst, Brother Larry Chandler, Worshipful Marlan Proctor, Jr., P.M., Worshipful Andrew De Caro, P.M., Worshipful Norm Furman, P.M. and Worshipful Jacob Libby. My thanks also to every person that donated to the retrofitting for the Olive Avenue building. Brethren these are the individuals responsible for our being in the new Burbank Masonic Center. I received a phone call the next day from Very Worshipful Ulysses G. Patropulos, thanking us for a tremendous event and to say what a magnificent Lodge we have. He also mentioned, in his 61 years of Masonry, he has never witnessed so many people at a Masonic event outside of Grand Lodge in San Francisco. This says something for Masonry in Burbank. Now watch us grow. Fraternally, Bill
