From the East
Brethren:
First things first, I would like to congratulate Jacob Libby, P.M., on becoming Burbank 406 Hiram Award recipient. This honor was bestowed upon him in do form on October 27th at the Burbank Masonic Center. Next, on the list of cong rats is our newly raised Master Masons, Bro. Mark Canterbury on September 20th, Past Masters night and Bro. John Brennan, on October 25th. Again, Congratulations to all.
This month is the time we elect our new officers for the ensuing Masonic year. Edward Avetisian, the Senior Warden, is preparing to becoming your next Master and is hoping to receive your vote of approval. As is Bro. Greg Bragg on becoming Senior Warden and Bro Jason Cunningham, Junior Warden. Please come to the Stated Meeting this November 1st and show your support for these fine Officers of your Lodge.
Ron Cooper, P.M., has been appointed by Grand Lodge, as Trustee for the Masonic Memorial Temple Board. The Board oversees the property on Nob Hill, Library & Museum, Columbia Lodge, the Plaza de Los Angeles Lodge and both the Masonic Homes. There are just six Trustees on the Board. Bro. Ron is also a Committeeman and key presenter at the Masonic Officers Workshop. Bro. Ron, seems quite busy with Grand Lodge activities, I only hope he has time for us. Maybe in
do time Burbank 406 will have a Past Master we can call Most Worshipful, congratulations, Ron.
Grand Lodge now has a new Grand Junior Warden, he is the brother of Most Worshipful Steven Doan, PGM, Richard Doan, P.M.. Also Grand Lodge voted to replace Ulysses Patropulos, with Harold A. Macy, as Grand Lecturer.
On November 18, 1926, Burbank Lodge raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason, Bro. William A. Miller. Bro Bill, became a 3rd Degree coach shortly there after and held that position until work transferred him out of town. His father-in-law Bro. George Sediker, who was also a member of Burbank 406 at the time, was our Treasurer for approximately 20 years. Bro. Bill was raised in the upper story of the Story Building on San Fernando rd. which was Burbank Lodge
406 meeting room. He has two daughters who were members of the Job Daughters. Bro. Bill will receive his Diamond pin for 75 years as a Master Mason this month. Bro. Bill wanted to come to our new Center, but for health reasons he is unable to make the commute. Burbank Lodge 406 extends their heartiest and warmest Congratulations to Brother William (Bill) A. Miller.
November 8th, Burbank Lodge will honor three teachers from each of the Burbank Unified Schools. This event is truly our way of reaching out and saying thank you to the Community for your support.
In December of this year we plan to honor our Finest, the Police and Fire Departments of Burbank. Date and time will follow with the next writing.
Happy Thanksgiving and Fraternally,
Bill

Brethren:
As I have mention to you before, the strength of the lodge is in the strength of it's members and our willingness and ability to put forth quality programs to bring member's together. The two activities discussed below, are two of the key activities for our future success and growth.
The Lodge has decided to put forth the money and purchase a Kids ID computer system. The availability of the system creates many more opportunities for the Kids ID program. We can have more flexible schedule and more members will be available to help running the booth. Even though the new equipment will not be available till after the Kids ID event of October 13 & 14, we will peruse to finish the research on what choices are available to us and if we can get
a discount.
Upcoming Kids Id program is on October 13 and 14, 2001 in Uzi park on Olive Boulevard. Magnolia Park 618 and Burbank Lodge 406 will share the days of the eventþBurbank will run the booth on Sunday, October 14, 2001.
The Constitution program promises to be informative and interesting. The focus will be on the basic rights that come from Bill of Rights: e.g. freedom of speech and assembly, right to speedy trial, rule against self-incrimination, eminent domain, etc. Please come and join your public leaders in discussing how these issues effect your day-day life. The event will be on Thursday, October 18, 2001 at 6:00 PM. The program will start with social hour at 6:00 pm
with appetizers and refreshments. The main event will start at 6:30 pm and will last 60-90 minutes.
Please make an attempt to call us with your reservations for the events since it allows us to be better prepared.
Fraternally,
Edward
A note from the Webmaster;
I have been off line for a few weeks due to relocating from Mentor, Ohio to Everett, Washington.
We followed our grandson here, but we told our son that "We ain't moving again", so we expect to settle down here and get back to doing our thing.
Part of our thing is doing the webpage, so it will get back up to speed. We are taking a couple of weeks to visit relitives (and Burbank Lodge) in Southern California, then it's back to a more normal life.
Fraternally, Art Seddon
