Trestleboard Messages for January, 2002

From the East

Brethren:
Happy New Year to one and all. I hope your holidays were filled with good health and great friends and family.
This is my last article as Master of Burbank 406. I would really like to thank Brother Chris Barnes, P.M. who appointed me into line during his term and for his words of wisdom. Those special words have truly been an inspiration to me. I have enjoyed these past few years serving the Lodge, especially as Master this past year and I'm looking forward to sitting on the sidelines as a Past Master.

This past year Burbank Lodge accomplished quite a few things:

      (1) Leaving the downtown and moving to a new facility on the outskirts of the city.
      (2) Seeing our new Lodge completed, furnished and decorated.
      (3) The Cornerstone Ceremony event with over 600 people in attendance.
      (4) Grand Lodge Opening with Grand Master David C. Decker presiding.
      (5) 75 Year Veteran diamond pin presentation by Grand Master C. Ray Whitaker to Bother William A. Miller, raised November 18, 1926.
      (6) 3 First Degrees, 3 Second Degrees and 2 Third Degrees.
      (7) The first annual celebration honoring the Teachers of Burbank.
      (8) First time honoring the Police Chief and Fire Chief of the BURBANK.COM.
      (9) Brother Jacob J. Libby, P.M. receiving the Hiram Award.

Thanks to all who gave our Lodge support this past year. I would especially like to thank my wife Ruth for her support and time to the Lodge and for allowing me the time to serve. I look forward to spending time with her on a more regular basis. Brother C. Mark Steiger, you are the true meaning to what the word helping really stands for in burbank Lodge.
Well wishes to our new Officers for the ensuing Masonic Year. Master-elect Ed, together with his corps of officers will do a terrific job.
This month we will seal the time capsule, to be opened on July 14, 2051. Hope to see you there!
Fraternally and Thank you,
Bill

From the West

Brethren:
The Masonic year for the newly installed officers commences on January 19, 2002. The installation ceremony will start at 6:00 PM and will be followed by a sit-down dinner at 7:00 PM in the lodge dinning room. Our Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful M. William Hollsinger and the Grand Organist, Brother Joseph Von Geczy, will grace us with their presence and music.
This will be the first Installation of Officers in the new lodge. It is very important to insure that we establish the direction for the Burbank Masonic Lodge. We must, therefore, set up clear goals and create programs to support these goals.
The officers' goal for the upcoming year will be to focus on two key issues - community involvement and support for our youth groups.
First, we must reestablish our lodge in the community. The history of the Burbank Lodge indicates that our members have always been a key part of this community's growth and innovation. During the past few years we had not been focusing on this role. It will be the goal of the year 2002 officers to reinstate our presence in the community. Our 2002 programs and events will be geared towards meeting this goal.
Our second goal will be to focus on our youth groups. As key part of the Masonic family, the youth groups insure the continuity of our value system. Lack of support and commitment only puts doubt in that value system in the minds of the younger generation. We need to continue to provide attendance to their events and support their programs.
I look forward to the upcoming year as the Master of this Lodge. With clear goals, a solid plan, an excellent core of officers and membership support, I am confident that we will accomplish our goals. I am excited to start my year in the new lodge and I hope that we will all take this opportunity to renew our dedication to the Masonic values.
As for upcoming events, we have planned the Sweetheart's Dinner on February 14, 2002, on Valentine's Day. With romantic atmosphere and music you and your significant other will have an enjoyable dinning and musical experience. We will be planning to get the meal catered; it is therefore imperative to get your advance reservations. Since it helps us save time and money, I ask that you continue to attend dinner events with prior reservations.
Fraternally,
Edward

Brethren:
Happy New Year! I hope that the New Year brings happiness and prosperity to everyone.
The January 3rd Stated Meeting will mark the beginning of a New Year as well as the end of the Masonic Year. We hope you all will make it to Lodge to say farewell to Worshipful Cunningham at his last Stated Meeting. Thank You Worshipful for a great fun-filled year. Remember 7 P.M. social and 8 P.M. Lodge.
January is a big month for Burbank 406. The biggest annual event of the year. Installation of Officers will be on the 19th of this month. Congratulations to Brother Avetisian on his rise to the East.
Our new Master has laid out his plans for the year and we are all in for a good time. Keep your eyes peeled to upcoming trestleboard articles for details.
On the 10th, all Masons are invited to the first degree night of the year, a First Degree. The degree will begin at 7:30 P.M., with refreshments following.
Thank You to everyone who helped me this year with my "refreshment duty." A special Thank You to Brother Mark Stieger, thanks Mark!
Look for me next time from the West
Fraternally, Greg
