Trestleboard Messages for April 2002

From the East

Brethren:
"Individuals are the living shadows of their institutions," said Most Worshipful C. Ray Whitaker, Grand Master of Masons in the state California in his speech during the 2002 Annual Service Bureau Breakfast. As Masons, we represent the values taught at the Lodge to the world outside. Taken at a more specific level, it is the values that we practice outside the Lodge that represent Masonry in the community.
One of Masonry's truly timeless lessons is CHARITY. The concept of charity can work at many different levels. It could be hidden in our kindness when interacting with other people or in our openness to help others. It could come in a form of monetary help or donation of time. In line with this ideology, I would like to make everyone aware that we are planning to spend a day at the Midnight Mission to visit and to help around.
This fine institution has been providing many different services to people of Los Angeles for over 75 years. This will offer us a unique opportunity to see how the organization operates and, in a very small way, to contribute to our community. Please contact me if you would like to join us.

Fraternally, Edward

From the West

Hello Brethren:
We look forward to seeing everyone on April 4th for our Stated Meeting.
Keep in mind that the ladies are welcome to attend social hour at 7 P.M. This months Stated Meeting will be complete with an Installation. Brother Jason Cunningham will be stepping into the office of Junior Warden.
April 18th we will be honoring our Youth Groups with a dinner at the Burbank Masonic Center. Over the years our youth groups have sent many hours helping to make our dinners and events a success. It is our turn to say thanks. We hope to see you all there at 6 P.M.
This month, officer's school for the 326th Masonic District will be at Magnolia Park Lodge on the 22nd. We begin at 7:30 P.M., and all Master Masons are invited to attend.
The Grand Lodge of California has again deemed the month of April to be Public Schools Month. In order to do our part for the schools in our community, we invite everyone to attend Burbank Public Schools Night on the 25th. The time is still set for 6-6:30 P.M. to start. We will be honoring the Burbank Schools “Teachers of the Year” and we will hear the choirs from three of the different schools.
Burbank 406 will again be represented in "Burbank on Parade". The Parade begins at 11 A.M. on Saturday, April 27th and winds up at George Izay Park.
In a joint effort between Burbank Lodge 406 and Magnolia Park Lodge 618 we will again have a Child Identification Booth. The booth will be located at George Izay Park between the hours of 10 A.M. and 3 P.M. This is a great opportunity to tell your neighbors and friends with small children about our Child ID program.
As you can see, it is going to be a fun-filled and fun-packed month! If you would like to participate in one of the events, or if you have questions about a particular event, please call the Secretary.
Fraternally, Greg

From the Secretary's Desk

Brethren,
The Officers are planning on presenting a 50 Year Emblem to Worshipful Brother Richard B. Carter, Past Master and Officers Coach, at the May Stated Meeting. As you may know, the Ceremony provided by Grand Lodge for Masonic Veterans is a most attractive ceremony. The presentation of the 50 Year Emblem provides an exceptional meeting for those in attendance. The ceremony will be presented by Worshipful Harold Hand, Inspector of the 326th Masonic District at the request of the Grand Master.
We are asking everyone who has known Worshipful Carter to be in attendance for this special presentation. Please make your reservations with me by phone
(or CLICK HERE to e-mail) on or before April 30, 2002 so we may plan accordingly for the trout fry dinner. Ladies and Guests are welcome.
If you know any Brother who is ill or not feeling good call and leave their name and phone number with the Secretary. This information will be given to the Master and Chaplain.
Don't forget your contribution to the Masonic Homes Endowment Fund?

Fraternally, Norm Furman, Secretary

For the Ladies, from the First Lady of 406

From Elizabeth Avetisian:
First, I would like to thank all the ladies who participated in our program on Thursday, March 7th. I hope to see those of you who couldn't make it this month at the next event scheduled on Thursday, April 4th. You will get a quick course on flower arranging and will make your own spring flower arrangement to take home with you. There is a $5 materials fee payable at the door.
Please RSVP by March 31 st. You must reserve a seat so we can get enough supplies for flower arrangements. The program will start at 8 P.M. following the social hour between 7 and 8 P.M.
Next, we will soon be selling tickets for the Mother's Day Tea scheduled on Thursday, May 9th at 5:30 P.M. Plan to come and celebrate Mother's Day in an evening filled with food, music, entertainment, prizes and more. Bring your mother, daughter or best friend. You may purchase tickets from Edward Avetisian or Norm Furman, the Secretary of the Lodge. Tickets are $12 each payable to Elizabeth Avetisian. Or you may send your check to me at 1717 Thurber PI., Burbank, CA 91501 and your ticket will be available at the door on the day of the event. Checks are due no later than April 30th. Please call us to purchase or reserve your ticket.
Please see the trestleboard for the ladies who serve on the phone committee. They will be calling you to remind you of the monthly events. If we were not able to reach you or if you have questions, please give one of us a call.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth

A note from the Honored Queen of Job's Daughter's Bethel 97

Thank you so much to everyone for supporting our Bethel last month. It was so nice to see Masons visiting us at our meetings and supporting us at our St. Patrick's Day Dinner. In the near future, we will be having a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser to benefit the many costs of Grand Bethel.
We are trying to make it possible to raise enough money so that every girl can have their trip to Grand Bethel completely paid for. We look forward to seeing you at the Masonic Youth Night, the dinner servings and maybe even at a few more of our meetings. I know the girls really enjoyed seeing the Masons on the sidelines. Thank you again for your constant love and support you have given to our wonderful Bethel.

Sincerely,
Stefanie Enokian
Honored Queen
