Trestleboard Messages for May 2002

From the East

Brethren:
I would like to share with you some of the highlights of our upcoming summer events.
On June 17, 2002, we are planning to have a Table Lodge. The event will be sponsored and organized by four lodges in the 526th Masonic District. The Grand Master of Masons in California, Most Worshipful C. Ray Whitaker will join us with many of the Grand Lodge Officers. Be prepared for an evening of good fellowship, good food and, most importantly, re-enactment of our Masonic heritage. The event will cost $50 per person and will be limited to 150 Master Masons.
On July 26-28, 2002 we will have our annual Degree Trip. We are planning to go to San Diego and spend two nights and three days in the area. Few of the planned activities include dinner and shopping at the harbor village and old town, tour and antique shopping at the historic Gaslamp Quarter and other events. The focal point of the trip will be a Third Degree at Point Loma Lodge for one of our upcoming Masons, Brother Herb Rower. The bus tour is limited to 50 people, the cost is $150 per person, and your paid reservations are requested by May 31, 2002. For the first 50 callers, we will include free lunch on our way to San Diego.
In addition to the above events, we are doing many smaller events that focus on our community involvement and membership-e.g. Child ID programs, visiting Midnight Mission, etc. You are encouraged to attend meetings, participate in activities and make a difference in our lodge and the community.

Fraternally, Edward

From the West

Hello Brethren:
Congratulations to our newly installed Junior Warden, Brother Jason Cunningham! It is nice to see him officially sitting in the South.
May is a busy month for us once again. May 2nd we will honor Worshipful Dick Carter with his 50-year Masonic Pin. I think everyone agrees, that no other Mason in Burbank has had a more involved 50 years than Worshipful Carter.
Let us not forget Brethren that May is for our Mothers and Ladies! The First Lady of Burbank Lodge, Elizabeth Avetisian, has arranged for a beautiful evening on May 9th.    Ladies only are invited to enjoy an evening of High Tea beginning at 5:30 P.M.
We have two opportunities this month to run our Child ID booth in the community.
The first is on May llth, at Burbank Police and Fire Service Day. We will be located outside and in front of Burbank Headquarters.
Our second event will be at the Burbank Block Party on the 18th of May. The party will run from 11:00 A.M. to 3 P.M. at Johnny Carson Park in Burbank. These are both great opportunities for Burbank 406 to flex a little muscle in our community.
Stay tuned for information to upcoming degrees as well as information on our Degree Trip to San Diego.
Fraternally, Greg

From the South

Brethren:
To start things off, I would first like to thank you all for your patience and support during the past couple of months. My qualification as Junior Warden has finally been taken care of so now I am able to get the year started in the kitchen.
Thursday, May 2nd we will be holding our annual “Trout Fry” at the Lodge. Lodge will open at 5:30 P.M. followed by social hour at 6:00 P.M. and dinner will begin at 6:30 P.M. This will be a very important night also for honoring Dick Carter with his 50-year pin.
Lastly, I would like to congratulate our newest Fellowcraft, Brother Herb Rowher, Jr. We look forward to your degree trip in July in San Diego.
      Have a great month everyone.
Fraternally, Jason

For the Ladies, from the First Lady of 406

From Elizabeth Avetisian:
May is when we celebrate Mother's Day, and what other season than spring to do it. Spring embodies the beauty in nature with its vivid colors, brightness and warmth - just what comes in mind when we think of our mothers. It's a very endearing day for all of us to let our mothers know how special they are or to remember them. Join me to celebrate this very special day in a lovely evening filled with live music, entertainment, prizes and assortment of teas served with traditional tea sandwiches and deserts. Come and learn the history of tea and tea tradition. Learn about the history of Mother's Day celebration. Wear hats, gloves or a Victorian outfit. Bring an antique tea cup, perhaps one that has a special story, and share it with the ladies. Invite your mother, daughter, sister or a special friend.
Ladies Mother's Day tea is on Thursday, May 9th at 6:00 P.M., social hour starts at 5:30 P.M. Tickets are $12 each and must be purchased before April 30th. For tickets contact Norm Furman, Dick Carter, Edward Avetisian, or call me (my phone number is in the trestleboard). I look forward to celebrating this Mother's Day with you.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth

A note from the Honored Queen of Job's Daughter's Bethel 97

Bethel #97 is really excited about our “Secret Dads”. We have all received the names of our Secret Dads, therefore the fun will soon begin.
We want to encourage everyone to come to our Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 4th, 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. All proceeds go towards the cost of Grand Bethel for the girls.
We are also having a Fashion Show & Lunch after our Saturday meeting on May 18th at 1:00 P.M. Bethel #97 would like to thank everyone for their support through out this term.
We are having so much fun and that would not be possible without the support of the Masons. We've enjoyed your presence at our meeting and we hope to see more and more in the meetings to come.
Sincerely,

Stefanie Enokian
Honored Queen
