Trestleboard Messages for November & December 2003

From the East

Brethren:
This edition of the Trestleboard is a combined November - December.
I am happy to report that Grand Lodge was quite successful this year. Most Worshipful Holsinger conducted a very efficient business meeting. Overall your representatives were quite pleased with the results of the legislation presented.
The November stated meeting will be quite busy. We will be honoring our 50 year members with a dinner and pin presentation. All are welcome to attend the dinner and pin ceremony, while all Master Masons are encouraged to stay for the stated meeting following the evening events.
The November stated meeting also marks the time for our annual election of officers. In addition, Brother Ken Barnes will be giving his 3rd degree proficiency.
With the upcoming holidays comes a little more family time, both at home and at the lodge. Due to the way that the holidays tend to fall on Thursdays this year, we will have a few extra dark Thursdays over the next few months. November and December will also bring about our Thanksgiving Family Dinner as well as our Holiday Family Pot Luck Dinner. Please see this edition of the Trestleboard for all the info or just call the lodge.
Have a good Holiday and a Happy New Year.
Fraternally, Greg

From the West

Brethren!
I would like to start off by thanking the members of Burbank Lodge #406 for sending me to Grand Lodge along with our Junior Warden and Master. The turnout of other Lodges throughout the state was noticeably better than in the years past. This year brought about some controversial resolutions and recommendations to our fraternity. There were some heated conversations among the sideliners and speakers which added to the excitement of the meetings, but overall I think everyone was pleased with the outcome. If any of you would like the results of the session this year, please visit the Grand Lodge website or call the Lodge and speak to our Secretary.
Worshipful Bragg, Tim, and I were among the youngest officers at Grand Lodge (at least for senior officers of a Lodge) which made it all the more special for us. It shows the youth and commitment in Burbank from its younger members is very high and I think that this is something we should all be proud of. The dedication of our officers and members reinforces the confidence and pride I have with our Lodge and I would hope that all of you feel the same way. Burbank Lodge is well on its way to re-establishing its strength in the community, however, the officers cannot do this alone. We will be asking for your help in the years to come. If any of you has ideas with how to get our Lodge some exposure in the community of Burbank and the surrounding areas please let us know. Any of the officers would be more than happy to brainstorm with you.
As this year comes to a close, I would like to wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday season. There are still some important events in the Lodge and all of you who are able to attend, please make every effort you can. Also, do not forget to make reservations for the dinners this month and in December as it helps our Junior Warden and the junior officers with the planning of the events. Your Lodge officers need your support and would also like to see each of you before the year ends.
Fraternally, Jason

From the South

Brethren:
As this Masonic year winds down I find myself in a state of wonder when it comes to all we have done this year. We have made major strides forward in our dealings with the Gas Station property. I want to send my appreciation to all the Brothers who have worked so hard to bring us to this point. With all the degrees we have done, the dinners, and the movie nights, I can help but look back on this year with a sense of Pride in the fact I can say “I am a member of Burbank 406”.
I have not only been looking back, but forward as well. If we can keep up the new membership drive, continue to cultivate our Child ID Program, and keep the extending our hand of fellowship and brotherhood to the community, we will have another fabulous year! I am looking forward to working with Jason Cunningham and Ken Barnes in the continuance of leadership of Burbank Lodge.
Though I am looking ahead to next year I must maintain my focus on this year as well. To that end I must remind you of some up coming dinners. November 6th is our Stated Meeting as well as the 50 year pin ceremonies. We will enjoy a Lemon Chicken dinner for which I need your reservations. We will celebrate Thanksgiving at the lodge on November 20th, and a Holiday Pot Luck on December 18th. Please call for reservations, 818-848-3750. Check the calendar on the front of this Trestleboard for times or give the Secretary a call if you have any questions.
Fraternally, Timothy J. Halm
