Brethren!
"I always said, if you want to learn what defines a Mason, look as his feet. More to the point, what his feet are standing on. Look close, and you will see the shoulders of the man who trained and mentored him. It is truly said. Masons are linked together by an indissoluble chain of sincere affection.
Burbank 406 is in its 99th year as a Fraternity; that is a long chain, forged one link, by one Mason at a time.
MASONRY
Three thousand years have rolled away upon the tide of time
Since Masonry began her march of noble deeds sublime;
And though the angry showers of war have swept the earth with fire,
Her temple stands unscathed, unhurt, with sunlight on It's spire.
Ten thousand widows in their words have blessed her advent here,
And many a homeless orphan's heart has owned her tender care,
Full many a frail and erring son to dissipation given
Has heard her warning voice and turned his wayward thoughts to heaven.
Long may her beauteous temple stand to light this darkened spear,
To gild the gloom of error's night and dry the falling tear.
And when the final winds of time shall sweep this reeling ball,
Oh, may its glittering spires be the last on earth to fall!

Brethren of the Burbank Masonic Center, I hope you have strong shoulders! For there are many new men, impatiently waiting for us to show them the light by which Masons now and will forever work. As for you. Entered Apprentices, have patience, your time is near. When you are called, open your minds, and roll up your sleeves, you have work to do.
Fraternally,
Jeffrey W. Yates,
Senior Warden
We live through the fine days without noticing them; only when we fall on evil ones do we wish to have back the former. With sour faces we let a thousand bright and pleasant hours slip by unenjoyed and afterwards vainly sigh for their return when times are trying and depressing. Instead of this, we should cherish every present moment that is bearable, even the most ordinary, which with such indifference we now let slip by, and even with impatience push on.

Brethren:
I now have a whole new look it seems that my older picture was a little out dated. I want to mention that we have been having great turnouts to all of our events so far this year which has been wonderful. Hopefully we can continue to have support and come out and have a good time. I also want to touch on the importance of making reservations our first event was the Super Bowl Party which we had over 50 people no reservations. Our stated meeting we had close to 60 people and a total of 33 reservations. Finally our Sweethearts Dinner which we had about 60 people and you guessed it not that many reservations. Please help me make the events more cost effective. We don't want to turn anyone away because we didn't plan for enough people. Make RESERVATIONS it is important.
A big thank you to all who helped me in the kitchen you were great and the food was wonderful. March 6th is our Stated Meeting there will be a St. Patrick's Day dinner. We will be having the traditional corned beef and cabbage prepared by our own Hank Williams so please plan to come and don't forget your reservations. Social at 6:00 PM and dinner will be at 6:30 PM. The cost is $10.00 for the men and the ladies are free. Make your reservation early by calling the Secretary at 818 848-3750. e:mail Secretary

ESTATE PLANNING
A single guy was living at home with his father and working in the family business. When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a wife with which to share his fortune.
One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away.
"I may look like just an ordinary man, " he said to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die, and I'II inherit 20 million dollars. "
Impressed, the woman obtained his business card three days later, she became his stepmother.
Women are so much better at estate planning than men!

From the Secretary's Desk
Brethren:
There are times when the Secretary gets somewhat frustrated. The U.S. Postal Service returns mail from Brethren who move and fail to inform the Lodge of their change of address. This action results in additional costs to the Lodge. These costs which continue to increase every year are a result of an unforgiving U.S. Postal Service that wants its "pound of flesh."
As a reminder the cost of first class postage is $.41 per mailing. A returned piece of mail is $.50. The total cost of this mailing is $.91. You may consider this cost meager in the relationship to a $3.50 gallon of gas or the cost of a gallon of water at $22.00 when you purchase the water by the bottle.
Please, when you move, email the Secretary, or send me via "Snail Mail" a Change of Address card provided FREE by the Postal Service. I'll be forever grateful.
Fraternally,
Norm Furman, Secretary

WALKING THE DOG
The little girl asked her Mom, "Mom, may I take the dog for a walk around the block?"
Mom replies, "No, because she is in heat."
"What's that mean? " asked the child.
"Go ask your father, he's in the garage."
The little girl goes to the garage and says, "Dad, may I take Belle for a walk around the block? I asked Mom, but she said the dog was in heat, and to come to you."
Dad said, "Bring Belle over here." He took a rag, soaked it with gasoline, and scrubbed the dog's backside with it to disguise the scent, and said "OK, you can go now, but keep Belle on the leash and only go one time round the block. "
The little girl left and returned a few minutes later with no dog on the leash.
Surprised, Dad asked, "Where's Belle?
"The little girl said, "She ran out of gas about halfway down the block, so another dog is pushing her home."
